Exclusive Product
A classic car here from Haynes Motor Museum, the 1932 MG Magentee K1 has been professionally photographed here at the museum to capture every detail of this sport car.
MG’s most successful racing car, launched at the 1932 London Motor show, the K-type was available as a saloon, open tourer, sports car or racing car. Only 33 of the K3 racing variant were produced and proved so successful that earlier road going K1 and K2 versions, were, like this car, converted to the K3 specification.
In K3 specification the car has many unusual features. The small capacity in-line overhead cam 6-cylinder engine is boosted by a supercharger mounted at the front below the radiator giving almost three times the power of the standard car. A Wilson four-speed pre-selector gearbox allowed fast changes and could handle the increased power while hydraulic brakes have replaced the original cable operation. The classic MG radiator, wire wheels and externally mounted silencer complete the distinctive 1930s racing car look.
K3s enjoyed great success in international sports car races and record-breaking events with many outright and class-winning victories including the Mille Miglia in 1933 and fourth overall at Le Mans in 1934, MG’s best-ever result.
